good morning to one and all…i need a favor from you my friends … i as well as samantha my service dog have been volunteering at our local Missouri State Veterans Home now in Warrensburg Missouri for about 2 yrs now…and a new need out of the wish list for the home has become a great one and expensive one..we need a new bus to haul our guys and gals in for transport ….one that is safer and gives easier access for our vets to be able to get in and out of …but the sad part is there is no money for this purchase…so our Volunteer Chief has started a fund raising drive for this purchase…so far we have raised around i just found out my previous amount stated was off 29,000.00 towards a new bus with more seating and safer load equipment on it…the total cost of the bus will cost around 120,000.00 dollars to purchase according to the company that does the retrofits etc..to this type of transport..origional i thought i had heard 180,000.00 but i finally got a chance to talk to Latisha Koetting or volunteer director today and get better figures from her..now so far as stated we have been able to raise through a lot of different sources: VFW,Lions Club,American Legion Posts from all over the map to the Air Force Sergeants Assoc.out of Whiteman AF Base which is located where i live..as well as from local elementary school kids and even the Chillicothe Correctional Center..now anyone who wishes may contact Latisha Koetting at the MO. Veterans Home for the figures as well as how to help in any other way you would like…the number for the Home is 1-660-543-5064 and ask for her or her direct line is 1-660-429-4661 and talk to her direct …if she is not in leave message as to why you are calling and a return number please so she can call you back…so i am asking this of all of my Military Family no matter what branch you are from…please donate to this fund drive..this bus is very important to our Veterans at the home..it takes the shopping,to local events going on in the community as well as fishing and the favorite of a whole lot casino night for those Vets. that can afford to go play…so please know this you are not the only folks i have contacted i have also put in a request to the Gary Sinise Foundation ,through one of the newer programs they have started and asked for assistance as well…but as we all know nothing is certain when apply for funding of projects so please do me this one favor…call the home and talk to Latisha and check out what i am telling you a true and the please give what you can our guys and gals and staff need this bus badly…so please call and please help…and for the person who asked the current census of Veterans at the home goes as follows: Army 96 vets..Army Women 3 vets..Navy 46.Navy Women 2..Air Force 36..Air Force Women 1..Marines 9 ..no women…Coast Guard 2 …no women..so as you can see our need is great…This Home as well as this Volunteer Chief is a great bunch …and our Veterans are well taken care of and love more then you could ever know…so please , please donate if you can and what you can …talk to you local groups for fund raising projects,,,the Motorcycle Military Group has even held rides to raise funds ….we are hoping and praying we can get this bus by the end of the year that is the goal currently set by Latisha..and trust me she is a very strong women and has a very strong mind when it comes to meeting goals she set for our guys and gals at the Veterans Home …so please call and please help…and Thank you in advance for those of you that do….
I was reading my grandfathers discharge papers. He was in during WWII. It says they gave him his HD and HS buttons….what are these
This is a beautiful button but does anyone know how much they are worth are were I might could find out I also have a lot of other old buttons I’d like to see what they r worth
………………………………………….OK so the main change to the Marine Corps button was in 1808 when they went froma 6 pointed star to a five pointed star is that correct??? I have looked laong and hard on line. Every one talks about the history of the eagle , globe and anchor. Which ever private learns in boot camp. I did 20 years and I do not remember many questions or trivia taught abut the buttons which are beautiful in their own right.
